1. Speech Competition on 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self- Reliant India)- 01.10.2024

As the part of a programme of U.P. Government, a Speech Competition on the subject ‘Atmnirbhar Bharat’ (Self – Reliant India) for the UG and PG students of the Arts, Science, Commerce and Education Faculties. A total no. of 25 students participanted in the competition.

The Organising Secretary, Dr. Ajendra Pratap Singh said that dependence on others is a cause of all ills and India should promote the export of indigenously produced products of international quality.

Delivering his address Shri Shailendra Tripathi, Co- ordinator, IQAC spoke at length saying that the history of India’s economic development since independence is one great story in self- reliance but its meaning, attributes and contents have changed with the change of economic conditions and economic policies. During the period from 1951 to 2023, the foodgrains production of the country has increased more than six times from 53 million tonnes to 330 million tonnes while during the same period, the population of the country has increased only four times from 36 crore to 145 crore. In British India, nearly
30 lakh Indians had died due to widespread drought, crop failure and famines in Bengal in the year 1943. In contrast, famine related deaths have not been reported in independent India. In the year 1987, India had experienced the biggest drought of the 20th century due to which nearly 2/3 of the Districts and 3/4 of the people were affected but not even a single Indian had died of famine related hunger. A more emphatic example of sel- reliance cannot be found than this. The need of the moment is to build on these strengths of the country.

The head of the panel of judges of the competition, Prof. Arun Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce and the other members of the panel of judges, Dr. Shamini Srivastava, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology and Dr. Pravesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology also spoke on the direction and content of self- reliance in India. Shri Garun Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Dr. Puneet Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry acted as the members of the panel of referees.

The Principal, Prof. Manoj Kumar Tripathi was of the opinion that for making India self- reliant the efforts of every individual count and the students and teachers too have to play an important role in inspiring others to imbibe and cherish the value of self- reliance. Presiding over the event, the Managing Secretary, Shri Atul Bhargava said that self- reliance is a virtue from an individual’s life to a nation’s life. Keeping the current international situation in mind, the country should make full scale efforts to develop and manufacture good quality, affordable domestic products for the consumption of Indian masses.

The Speech Competition was successfully anchored by Dr. Dhananjay Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. Members of the Organising Committee and other teachers of the College including Dr. Subhash Chandra, Dr. Vinay Singh, Dr. Vibha Mishra, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Shashank, Dr. Harvesh Rana, Dr. Gulab Singh, Dr. Malkhan and Dr. Virendra and a large no. of students were also present on the occasion.

2. Programme in the Department of Political Science on the Eve of Gandhi Jayanti- 01.10.2024

A programme was organised on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti in the Department of Political Science on 01.10.2024. The Programme was presided over by Dr. Dinkar Tripathi, Associate Professor and Head Department of Political Science. Shri Subhash Chandra, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education (B.Ed.) was the Chief Guest and main speaker of the Programme. Paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion, Shri Subhash Chandra said that Gandhiji is still relevant as before and will always remain relevant so long as human problems exist in the country and the world. Gandhiji had completely merged his ideology with Indian thought and traditions and by becoming one with Indian masses, he brought the masses into the fold of national struggle for freedom. Dr. Vibha Mishra was of the opinion that Gandhiji took over the leadership of the national movement in 1920 and ever since then he strived to achieve the four noble ideals- an India free from violence, an India free from untouchability, an India free from unemployment and an India free from intoxication but unfortunately these problems still exist in the country in higher or lesser degrees. Dr. Dinkar Tripathi said that in recognising and respecting the dignity of every individual and in lifting every individual up lies the crux of Gandhian ideology.
Prof. Lakshmi Kant Tripathi, Professor, Department of Political Science, Dr. Abhay Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Shri Dabbe Bharti, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit and Aditi Agnihotri, Department of Political Science and Post Graduate students of the Department of Political Science were present on the occasion.
