        With its establishment on the 08th of August, 1960, Feroze Gandhi College, Rae Bareli became an affiliated College of the Agra University, Agra and continued to remain so till the year 1975. With the amendment in the U.P. State Universities Act, 1973 and the First Statues of Agra and Kanpur Universities in the year 1975, the affiliating jurisdictions of Agra University and the Kanpur University were redrawn and the College became an affiliated College of the Kanpur University (now known as CSJM University, Kanpur). Once again, with further amendment in the U.P. State Universities Act, 1973 and the redistribution of the respective areas of the jurisdictions of the C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur and the University of Lucknow through the process of amendment in the First Statutes of the two Universities in October, 2020, the College became an associated College of of the University of Lucknow, Lucknow.

        The University of Lucknow, which was established in the year 1920, is the leading State University of Uttar Pradesh and has the distinction of being endowed with a rich history and legacy. It has more than 30,000 on- campus residential students and about 500 Aided, Government and Self- financing Colleges as its Associated Colleges under the provisions of the U.P. State Universities Act, 1973 and the First Statutes of the University of Lucknow. The University of Lucknow has been assessed and accredited in Grade A++ by NAAC and has also been recognised as Grade- I University by the University Grants Commission (UGC). A galaxy of the alumni who have passed through the hallowed portals of the University of Lucknow have earned name and fame for themselves at national and international levels.

        The University has to its credit the distinction of achieving the highest score of 585/650 among all the Universities in India in the UGC screening under PM- USHA Scheme. As a mark of reward for this shining achievement, the University has recently been given a grant of Rs.100 crore by the Central Government for giving a fillip to its research activities and academic and infrastructural development programmes.
